COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES

ABOUT CRISIS SERVICES

Individuals experiencing a crisis frequently are inappropriately and unnecessarily placed in jail, holding facility, hospital, or inpatient treatment program. The overarching goal of Crisis Services is to respond in a timely manner to where an individual is experiencing a crisis or to a designated location such as a local hospital. The Crisis Services staff will provide community-based crisis services that deliver solution-focused and recovery-oriented behavioral health assessments and stabilization of crises. The Crisis Services is staffed with Master’s level Mental Health Therapists, Community Support Specialists, and Peer Support Specialists. Individuals, families, law enforcement, clergy, ERs, chancery courts, or anyone concerned about an individual who is experiencing, or is at risk of a psychological and/or substance abuse crisis can request assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout Communicare’s catchment area. Following the crisis event, Crisis Services staff ensure an individual has a follow-up appointment with their preferred provider and monitor the individual until the appointment takes place.
