Functions:

The Education Specialist is charged with oversight of educational activities, trainings, and data management of the System of Care project. The Education Specialist will participate in ongoing learning opportunities through Train the Trainer and disseminate learning materials and trainings to staff, youth, families, and community stakeholders throughout the System of Care. The Education Specialist will collect, input, and coordinate data collection for reporting to the Project Director, Principal Investigator, and Evaluation team.  


Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree. Must have at least one year of administrative support experience and/or secretarial experience. Must have knowledge and understanding of System of Care principles including cultural competence. Must have knowledge and understanding of serious emotional disturbances in children, youth, and families including services and stage of change components.  Must be at least 23 years of age, have a valid MS driver’s license with a good driving record including proof of legally appropriate auto liability insurance. 


Core Competencies: 

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of children’s mental health services.
  • Ability to drive and travel throughout 6 counties of service during work day.
  • Must have strong understanding of Microsoft programs and applications such as excel, word, and outlook.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, including time management, and verbal and written communication.
  • Must be comfortable speaking and presenting to groups of 8 or more people. 


Performance Responsibilities Summary: 

  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR, CPI, and DMH trainings as required.
  • Participate as member of System of Care Grant expansion and sustainability work group including assisting in SAMHSA required activities. 
  • Collect data management and maintain spreadsheet to ensure timeliness of completion as set forth by SAMHSA and MS DMH guidelines
  • Maintain organized file system of documentation and training logs for reporting to Project Director, Principal Investigator, and evaluation team.
  • Complete trainings within the agency and community to meet goals and objectives of the SOC Project
  • Complete other tasks as required by supervisor.
